Too sexy, too soon?
Children clothes are getting more and more provocative these days. The fashion industry are mulling over fashion trends to fatten their pockets. Inspired by the pop culture, children are encouraged to wear clothes like what you see on stage, skimpy clothes, low cut tops and miniskirts. Fairy-like dresses are no longer considered pretty anymore. Almost every kid wants to look like an adult.
These clothes may seem harmless, but they can cause stress to our children, from the need to look trendy and appealing, like what's being plastered everywhere nowadays. But stress isn't the only problem, provocative clothes may attract the wrong attention to children.
But our kids do not know about that. What matters to them is to wear what everyone else is wearing. But is fashion trend for kids worth it?

This is not a fact, but resulted by reasoning of the mind. I know what you're trying to say. After all, they are just kids, what do they bother about fashion right? But it's true you know. I've taught kindergarten before, and also through my other interaction with kids, I realise that they are getting peer pressure much earlier in life nowadays. They follow the fashion, not because they want to be seducive, but because they're made to think that such clothes make them appealing and pretty. And as I said, to look trendy like their friends. And when they're not up with the beat, that's where the stress comes in. Have you seen those little makeup kits for children?

so when we say kids, do mean to say female kids? because if this also happens to make kids, i'm going to teach them rugby earlier.

HAHAHA! Hey, never know. Fashion changes all the time. I won't be surprised if the boys start wearing miniskirts one day.

When they are young, fashion is not really.. u know their kinda 'thang'. They wear what their peers wear but stress to keep up with the latest fashion and style is not felt yet. This will carry on until they reach their teenage years...that's when keeping in style becomes a habit and eventually it becomes and obsession and it puts an indirect pressure on them. Instead of trying to be different, they prefer to be one with the crowd.
Example, I see people everywhere wearing spaghetti straps. My boyfriend asked before "I hardly see you wear them" and you know what I say? I said "It's so common..I dun like wearing them and then blend in with the crowd" so I choose to wear nicer tops which also gives that kinda sexy aura without revealing so much skin.
