Pqi mPack P600 and Mtrix Portable Media Players

pqi_large_p600.jpg

GPS and portable media players. What can I say ? Simply a good choice of features. Bring along your Mariah Carey videos on those boring hiking trips.

PQI's mPack P600 and the mTrix are a couple of sleek looking Multimedia players that will surely grab your attention and possibly your wallet. Expected to hit the markets very soon, the P600 squares off with Creative's Zen Vision, Cowon's A2, and the Archos AV500. Sounds like tough competition? Fortunately, the P600 has its overall design that could turn the tide in its favour, along with a host of other features such as SPDIF-Out, USB-Host, GPS Navigation, and RAW picture support. At 120 x 94.5 x 27 mm, it is larger than its rivals, but the flip-screen has its virtue in protecting the screen from any nasty damage.

The compact flash-based mTrix supports the SD card format and is apparently aimed at the fairer sex. There is no word as to whether the video-out function is supported or not, but its release next month will be able to lay any ghosts to rest.

Mtrix's playback time is 2 hours for video and 3 hours for audio. PQI's mPack P600's playing time is 3hours (Video) and 5 hours (Audio). Bad thing about it is the charging takes up to 6 hours !
