PPS Search

Ok, all you PPSers out there: guess what i've been doing: writing a search script from scratch! This is what i consider the Holy Grail of PPS -- something i've wanted to be able to do since the beginning of the project: search the ping database for keywords and dig up old pings!

http://www.petalingstreet.org/search.php

Try it out. Feedback very welcome.

Don't mind the look and feel, i'll clean it up later. Its all Alpha-stage for now.

ok, ok, back to getting PPS back to accepting pings... ;)

Hey great idea!

I would like a Next - Prev at the bottom of the main page too so we can see older pings, like maybe we missed a couple of days and want to browse back through.

Also for the search, maybe add date to results (sort by date, newer being more relevant).

And show in the first instance how many results are returned (don't need next prev every iteration too, put it outside the main loop ;-D)

Other than that good stuff.

Coming, coming... its just alpha-testing at this point. :)

I've been waiting for such useful feature.

You wouldn't believe the number of times I've thought, "Doh! Why the hell didn't I bookmark that post!" after finding out that a particularly interesting post has "overflowed" the PPS ping index.

Can't wait!

Appreciate the work, Aiz.

Just noticed that currently the query is not urlencoded in the previous and next links. A single quote would break the page.

Thanks.

Excellent idea! This would be a cool addition to the PPS RSS feeds.

I know that I miss a lot of good posts. Hence, being able to search through an archive of pings would be uber-cool.

Can't wait for it.

I thought I send you a PPS search script long time ago?

By the way, move the Next/Previous link out from the result listing loop.

I second shaolin tiger's suggestion!

shit this is scary... got pings relating to me from a looooooooooooooooong time ago hahahahaha

LCF: Yes, you did! But never got a chance to use that script, then we both lost it! :) Sorry. Had to write one up from scratch...

Its got lots of bugs in it right now, but i'm working on cleaning it up, hopefully by this weekend it'll be ready, and PPS will be back to normal service.

You are an amazing guy. Great job, great initiatives, great thinking. Keep it up!

Aizuddin codes..? o.0 now that's a new thing learnt. ;) Looking forward to it.

Cheers.
