The direction of PPS
PPS is 2+ years old, that's a long time in 'Net-years, especially for something that started out as a simple project and is very much self-funded with its current size. Its fair to say that if PPS is going to remain relevant for the future, a proper plan needs to be mapped out and executed.
If you're curious about this plan, please allow me to share with you an email i wrote to the founders of PPS a few days ago, seeking their blessing and support.

Dear PPS Founders,
Its been a busy couple of months for me, since the PPS 2nd Anniversary, i've been hard at work trying to think of ways to make PPS more relevant to the increasingly blog-savvy Malaysian public. You know, as they say: stay still, die standing! :)
There are 3 new online services that PPS will launch to complete the "re-energizing" exercise. You're probably aware of the first: the PPS Blog, its still in BETA mode but eventually i hope to make it similar to BoingBoing or Singapore's "Tomorrow" community blog. I've got all the workflow management scripts in place, its just a matter of deciding when is the best time to begin testing this feature.
The second was just launched into BETA today, the PPS RSS which i see as a logical evolution of how readers will prefer to read their favourite blogs/newsfeeds/etc. Not updated quite as frequently as PPS -- PPS is by-the-minute, PPS RSS is refreshed every 60 minutes -- the PPS RSS has some features which many PPSers have requested for recent months: categorization, filters, opml feeds, etc. I think it'll prove in the coming months to be a welcome boon to the PPS community.
The third service is still a bit under wraps for the time being (though some people have already seen it by accident, i suspect). Its undergoing some major testing and design work now as i race to get it ready for a Merdeka Day 2005 launch. All i can say about it now is that its an old idea but modified slightly to suit current times.
All in all, the 4 PPS services - PPS, PPS Blog, PPS RSS, PPS XXX - will make up a reasonably complete package of online services for Malaysian bloggers everywhere. The objective of PPS has always been, and will continue to be, the promotion of the blogging word, the facilitation of awareness and the advocacy of our right to free speech. Its been a long, fun, tough ride these past few years on the Project, and i believe with all the services in place, it'll serve as an able foundation to sustain PPS and its community for many more years to come.

Dude... it's about time you got RSS integrated into the PPS website... aku dah penatlah, everytime I update blog and want to share w/ Malaysian community, I got to fill in a web-form. So, kudos! Thanks! And if you are taking this whole project somewhere big-time in the future, I'd love to help out. Currently jobless, and will soon be looking for something to do. Cheerio. Tata.

Nah, its not a BIG secret, just a small one. I'm not even sure whether the last addition to the PPS family will be warmly embraced by everyone, but i think it should be quite useful.

Man, must everything be so cloak and dagger with you? :) This is driving me crazy. What on earth is PPS XXX and how come I didn't stumble upon it?

James: Some people have come across it, by accident i suspect. Its here somewhere, you just gotta find it. ;) btw, "XXX" is just a working name, but its kinda growing on me... maybe we should call it PPS XXX!!!! :*LOL*
